Here are some suggestions to fix the microphone issues:

• Try the course in Google Chrome
• Try pausing for a second or two after clicking the record button before speaking.
• If using a connected microphone/headset/bluetooth/etc., instead try with the laptop's built-in microphone. Some devices enter into a "sleep" mode to conserve battery and they may be losing the first portion of your recording while waking up.
