"Nearly half of New York City public school students speak a language other than English at home, and more than 180 languages are represented. "
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) released a report on Tuesday, June 16th, documenting the "major gaps in access to translation and interpretation services" for the parents of children in New York City schools. A large number of parents don't even realize that these services are (should be) available to them.
